Rewriting goals

Goal 1: read one book every 2 weeks
Step 1: enjoy reading
Step 2: finish my homework quickly
Step 3: less time on iPod!!

Goal 2: exercise more
Step 1: exercise everyday
Step 2: wake up early in the morning
Step 3: use time wisely

Goal 3: eat healthily
Step 1: cut down on snacks
Step 2: adjust the amount I eat
Step 3: no food after 9:00 pm!!!

Review of my goals

Goal 1: Read one book every week.
I am not really achieving the goals.
Something I do well is that I do not spend much time on electronics, and I try to enjoy reading a lot.
I should improve by finishing my homework quickly. I am not concentrating enough.

Goal 2: Exercise more.
I am trying very hard on this goal. I try to be enthusiastic, and I use my times well. Moving from one class to the other is a good exercise, too. I try to use stairs. I participate well in ski, taekwondo and yoga.
I could improve by exercising more often.

Goal 3: Eat healthily.
I am almost achieved it.
I am doing it well by not drinking sugary drinks-only water or milk. I avoid eating greasy food too much.
I still eat after 8:00pm, I should not eat!

short story

            Short Story (drabble)
Memories passed by. Warmth, happiness, laughter and smiles. Sweet scents and soft touch. The voice that rang quietly and low. Hugs and kisses. Gifts and letters. Shattered dreams by the doctor and following sadness. “Not so long, not so long”- the words that stabbed our hearts like a ferocious Greek knight’s sword. We all cried until no tears came out, hugging each other. I remember mother’s pale skin with dry lips. Eyes were no longer twinkling. As her cold, bony fingers rested on my shoulder, I wailed.
Now, I hold the bony fingers as they slowly lose strength and fall.

Argumentative Essay

                     Argumentative Essay

Oh, no! You are late for your next schedule, but you have not had dinner. You are too hungry to miss your meal, and the schedule ends late at night. What would you eat? I am pretty sure that most of you answered “burgers”, “pizza” or any kind of fast food. However, you should think again. These are not good choices. Eating fast food has harmful effects on people’s health.

Those who argue with this idea say that eating fast food helps people become mentally happy. When they eat something delicious or something they like, they become happy. So being mentally happy can help physical health. For example, in Korea, when someone has a stomach ache, the mother rubs his or her stomach. It is not helping physically, but their thought that they will get better thanks to his or her mother’s rub helps relieve pain.
However, that way of happiness only helps for an instance. It does not affect much positively. There are much more bad effects than good effects on physical health, so it is not much help.

Now, I will explain why fast food has harmful effects on people’s health. First of all, it has very high calories. For example, a very famous fast food restaurant, McDonalds’s Bid Mac is 525 calories. If coke and French fries are added, the calories will be much higher. Burger King’s Bulgogi Burger is 400 calories. This menu also, will have much more calories if it is a set. It is known that 2 pieces of pizza have more fat than a person needs in a whole day. So, what is so bad about eating food with high calories? They can lead to several diseases. For example, people can get obesity. The leftover calories will be stacked in people’s bodies as fat.
Being obese will bring along more sicknesses, such as high blood pressure and diabetes.

Furthermore, fast food contains lots of food additives. According to the Naver Dictionary, food additives are put in to make the food tastier and last longer. Some examples are artificial coloring, preservatives, seasonings and MSG, which stands for Mono Sodium Glutamate. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), excessive amounts of food additives lead to diseases. The diseases are headaches, insomnia, allergies and much more. Also, the MSG, according to the US Food and Drug Administration, can lead to the decrease of neurons on people’s brains, causing personality changes. They have serious problems on physical health.

In conclusion, eating fast food has harmful effects on people’s health. The mental happiness caused from eating them has little amount of help, compared to the harm of eating them. Fast food has high calories and contains lots of food additives, and they both lead to serious health problems. So people should reduce the amount of fast food they eat. Even though they are so busy, they should try to eat more healthily. It will be even better if they try to be on time.

Response Essay- Brave

                               Brave

Merida is a princess. But unlike other princesses we know, she is very stressed out about being one. She does not like all the pressure and the expectations. She wants to live freely and shoot arrows. From the movie Brave, I could learn about many things. But there was one lesson that I remembered the most. Being yourself is very important.
First of all, not being yourself will give you a lot of stress. The stress can lead to dissatisfaction about things, creating arguments. The arguments can split up families, just like what happened to Merida's family. Arguments broke the family apart, making Merida change her mother,
Also, being yourself can increase your self confidence. If you become your true self, you will be sure and confident about what you do. Being confident of yourself is very important. You have to trust yourself to do anything in your life. If you do not have faith in yourself, you will think 'If I do this, I will fail', 'I cannot do it', 'It is impossible' or 'I am not very helpful for the others'.
In conclusion, I believe that being yourself is very important. It prevents fights or stress, and increases your self confidence. Just like what the movie title tells you; be 'brave' and be your unique self.

Response Essay-Adora Svitak

Can adults learn from children? Many people question that. Adora Svitak, a 12 year old girl knew the answer. She believed that children can teach adults. Ages are just numbers! I think that adults have something to learn from kids.
First of all, kids do not think about limitations. They have dreams. Dreams to end hunger, a dream to meet E.T in space. However, most adults do not. For example, they think when all food is free, there are many harms to the society. They keep thinking about what happened in the past, and lose their courage or motivation. Kids dream unlimitedly, and strive to achieve their dreams. In another example, when adults were doing glass art, they thought about how hard it would be to make certain designs, so their thoughts were not always creative and unique. But kids do not think about that. They have good ideas.
Furthermore, adults should not think about someone beforehand according to his or her age. As I said before, age is just a number. When kids want to do something, adults say 'You are too young'. Adora Svitak's parents were different. When Adora was six, they let her publish a book. They read about Artistotle or 'The pioneer germ fighters' instead of 'the wheels on the bus go round and round'. The low expectation make kids sink into them. They need to believe kids more and do not think lowly about them.
In conclusion, I believe that adults have something to learn from kids. Kids do not think about limitations, and they are not simple and little as adults believe. Adora Svitak made me think again; are adults always right? Especially in Korea, kids respect what adults tell them very much. But it is our turn to educate!
